Happy Birthday, Mommy!

This week Mommy had a birthday!

Zoe and Mommy got on video chat with Grammie and Grandad
along with Aunt Lisa, Lillian, and Sophia!

Zoe stood at the table while Mommy opened some presents.

Mommy loved that Zoe gave her
a big smile each time they unwrapped a present together.

Then Zoe gave Mommy the ultimate birthday gift and took a two-hour nap!

Zoe and her Horsey on the rocking chair

As you saw last week, Zoe has discovered the joys of riding on things.
She loves riding on Daddy's shoulders and now she takes some time each
day to practice riding her polar bear.

Thanks, Uncle Doug and Aunt Laurie!

Every morning while Daddy gets ready for work, Zoe plays in the kitchen.
Daddy does his best to keep her entertained and struck gold when he left
the Tupperware cabinet open and Zoe crawled over to investigate.

Look at all these shapes and colors!

I know it's in here somewhere...

Jackpot

Now Zoe has a new place to hang out each day and Daddy is happy she's not playing
with the stove or dish washer.

Speaking of the dish washer...the one pictured above has been replaced.

Bling

Mommy and Daddy routinely take Zoe grocery shopping and she loves seeing
all the fun stuff you can buy.

Here is a picture of Daddy being silly.

Zoe loves to read and now routinely pulls down her favorite book,
"Peek-A-Boo Forrest" to read by herself!

Who is always on the prowl?

..Crinkle Crinkle...

PEEK-A-BOO!  IT'S THE OWL!

Mommy is getting to know the (two-legged) residents of our neighborhood
who stop her on her walk to introduce themselves.

They see Mommy and Zoe on their daily walk and commend
both Mommy and Zoe for spending so much time outside.

The other benefit is that they then introduce Mommy and Zoe to their
four-legged cohabitants.

Mommy petting Sierra.

This is Sparrow.

Our biggest surprise is how much Zoe loves flowers.

Zoe wants to stop to touch each one...but we live in
SoCal and Mommy would rather WALK during their walk together.

Still, there's always time to stop here and there...
This one is as big as Zoe's hat!

Bliss

After we get back and have a bath it's getting close to bed time.

Zoe has figured out how to 'act cute' (as if she could act any other way)
and loves tossing her head back and forth and batting her long eyelashes at us.

Zoe also loves mugging for the camera.
We love it, too.

Mommy and Zoe love trying on all the different outfits we've been given.
This one is called, "Ladybugs."

Mommy sent Daddy this pic with the caption:  "Trouble with a capital T"
Daddy had a minor heart attack.

This was the (unsuccessful) start to Operation Yogurt.

That's okay, Daddy hates Yogurt, too.

That's about everything from here!

Our little Monkey hopes to see you all soon!

Guess who is 9 months old and can stand up?

Look at her go!

Here's a video of her standing for the first time!

And now she won't stop.

We call this her smushy-face smile.  Mommy loves it.

Daddy loves this smile even more.

Such a happy kid.

The variety in Zoe's diet is growing.
Here she's trying egg yolk for the first time...

She loves it!

And she loves to ride her horse!

Here's a video of her practicing.

And her obsession with books continues.

She's moved on from Tolkien to Horror Fiction.

And maybe a little cooking on the side.

To preserve the floors, we put this mat under her high chair.
Zoe thinks it's to play twister.

Left Hand Tree.

Zoe read in Cosmo that a little oatmeal in your hair does wonders.

...she decided she'd try it out.

Now everyone in LA is doing it.

That's it -- have a great week!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

A bittersweet post this week as Zoe lost her Great Grandmother.

We hope Zoe inherited Great Grandmom's green thumb and her love of animals.
This week's post is written in her memory

Lots of updates this week.

Zoe has learned how to sit up on her own --
in the crib, on the changing table, and on the floor.

The world looks so much better right-side up!

And today she surprised us by STANDING in the crib after her morning nap.

There's no stopping her now.
(Yes, she was crying.  Standing is scary, y'all)

Zoe also crawls like a champ.

She scoots around the floor at will,
so it appears we got the house Zoe-proofed just in time.

Zoe's favorite time of the day is when she gets to go for a walk with Mommy.

Look how happy she is to be outside!

Zoe's list of nouns is ever-growning.  She knows what a walk is, what horses are,
and now, thanks to our friends, John and JJ, what PUPPIES ARE!

Dad!  PUPPIES!!!

PUPPIES!!! PUPPIES!!! PUPPIES!!!!

PUPPY!

Zoe isn't smiling because she felt bad not wearing a hat.

...so she got a hat.

Zoe can now play on the floor. Supervised, of course.

But if you take your eyes off her too long she starts looking for trouble.

Hmm...dead end.

Zoe is now a a carnivore.  Here she is eating...well, she's eating the bowl.
But INSIDE the bowl is turkey, potatoes, and carrots.

Nom nom nom.

But her favorite thing to eat are books.
Specifically Candide.

Not sure why she loves Voltaire so much.
I guess his characters are just delicious.

Maybe she's just a huge fan of satire.

Anyway, now that Zoe is moving around (and about to stand) we decided to buy a rug.

This one came with a baby!!!
