Christmas and New Years

Happy New Year!

I know I haven't updated this blog since last year -- I hope you can forgive me.

So much has happened!

Zoe spent the days and weeks leading up to Christmas
riding (in this case a polar bear) and hoping
she was good enough to get some presents.

She really loves to ride.
Here she dragged her horse into the kitchen to be with us.

Zoe also found her belly button!

And learned how to clean her own teeth!

Zoe also learned how to say, "Ba-boom!"

Zoe and Mama still go to the park each day.

Here's looking at you, Dada.

Zoe and Mommy still go to the Zoo each Thursday.
Zoe was thinking of bringing this home as her new high chair.

We might need a bigger dining room table.

Zoe also learned how to pack her own lunch.

I'm ready to go out!

Zoe and Mommy love to visit Dream.
Dream doesn't seem to mind.  Nor does Zoe.

Zoe couldn't stop talking about it all the way home!

Zoe loves to do things on her own.
Here she is brushing her own hair.

Zoe's also been perfecting her smile.

And picking out her jewelry.

Check out the shoes.

Our little princess.

She's also found some very creative ways of wearing bibs.

She got some wonderful Hanukkah gifts from Grandma and Grandpa.
Here is a book about Vermont!

They have horses in Vermont, too!

Sleeping is still an issue.
So here's a picture of her actually doing it (yay!).

But mostly we're thinking about Christmas.

Zoe sent this selfie to Santa to remind him of what she looks like.

Zoe's been doing a lot of investigating and she's pretty sure
Santa's magic comes from inside the lights.

But finally, at long last, 'Twas the night before Christmas...

I'll give you one guess who's been stirring all through this house.

Note the matching jammies.

That night there was quite a noise downstairs (you might even call it a clatter)
so Daddy ran down to see what was the matter...

Santa's been here!

...and the next morning...

IT'S CHRISTMAS!

Last year it took four days for Zoe to open all her presents.

This year she was done by lunch.

Here's what happened:

You might say she dove right in.

One of her favorite gifts was from Aunt Deb.
It's her own (toy) iPhone!

Zoe was the perfect model for the clothes she got.

Zoe got a Santa from her cousin, Lillian.

And a dolly from her cousin Sophia!

Zoe got some big boxes -- some were even bigger than her!

Good thing Daddy was here to help.

Actually, Zoe quickly figured out she didn't need the help.

Out of the way, old man.  I got this.

It's a trike from Megan and Will!

(cue Daddy's build montage)

Then...done!

Thanks, Megan and Will!  I love it!

She also got horsies galore.

Kiss!

And some pretty princesses.

Zoe also got a musical kitty cat from Robert.

She loves this beautiful dolly!

And loves her super cool, hand-painted chair from Zahava!

Zoe had the best Christmas yet!
Thank you, Santa, and to everyone who gave her gifts!

The day after Christmas we all went to opening day
at Santa Anita!

We headed for the infield.

Zoe loved running up and down the hills.
Mostly down.

She laughed all the way down.

Every now and then some horsies would run past.
They seemed to be in a big hurry.

We were told this is how the really talented jockeys train.

Zoe got to pet this horse and the owner was impressed
with how comfortable she is around horses.

Mommy got to pet some horses, too!

Zoe also got a beautiful new plush horse named Shadow!

By the end of the day, Zoe was a seasoned veteran of the track.

Here she is just kickin' back, relaxing in the tunnel.

Then we headed up to San Francisco to visit Gordon, Nola, and Charlotte!

They didn't know it at first, but they'd be best friends by the end of the week!

Gordon needed practice holding a second child...
(Charlotte will be a big sister any day now...)

Each day we'd walk down to the beach.

Zoe and Charlotte took every opportunity to learn from each other.

Here they are having a dance-off.

Zoe also tried sushi for the first time.

...and loves it!!!

Zoe isn't a fan of long car rides so we were thinking of shipping her home.

We ended up just driving home together.

At first it was a bit overcast, but by New Year's there was nothing but blue sky.
Zoe wanted to wear a sun hat.

...maybe not this one.

Look at San Francisco in the back ground.  Beautiful views all around.

James and Penny Berry brought Xander and Ellie to visit for New Years!

Happy new year, everyone!
