Zoe's 2nd Birthday! (and so much more...)

Zoe turned two!

For Zoe's second birthday, Grammie sent out the cake pan
she used to bake a very special cake in 1980...

Flashback to 1980:

...and today:

All of Zoe's friends came over and she got
some wonderful gifts!

Zoe got a "Doctor Kit" from Uncle Doug and Aunt Laurie.

It included a cell phone and she knew exactly what to do with it.

Texting

Sometimes Zoe asks for a chocolate treat and Mama doesn't "hear" the request.

So Zoe wanted to check her hearing.  You know, just to be sure.

Check the eyes.

Check the teeth...

Then, on Zoe's actual 2nd birthday, we went to an indoor playground
to explore and have some fun!

When we first arrived Zoe wanted to go down this slide so bad,
but she needed help getting up the the two steps to the top.

But we showed her how to use the stairs and she quickly figured it out!

We mostly stayed upstairs in the "two and under" section
but Zoe has big plans for next year when she can play downstairs...

That was fun!

Zoe took what she learned on the little slide and applied it to our
bigger slides at our neighborhood park.

First she climbed up to the 6' slide and went down by herself (again and again)
but all too soon she decided she was ready to go down the BIG SLIDE (20' high)
and, surprising us all, went down it.

Again and again.

So much progress in just a few short months!

Generally Daddy's glasses are off-limits.

But Zoe grabbed them and put them on...and we couldn't stop laughing
at the family resemblance.

Pretty solid impression.  SNL, here we come.

She's also getting pretty good at selfies.

One very special night we got to go to the Zoo after hours to
spent some time with the animals after dark.

Hopefully this is the closest Zoe will ever get to a rattle snake.

What can I say?  The kid loves her reptiles.

Zoe also had her first hot dog.

And her 2nd...

And no trip to the zoo would be complete without a ride on the carousel.

Zoe loves to dress herself and sometimes she surprises us.

She also loves to build towers and castles with her blocks.

Other than that we've had a pretty busy social schedule between the Steelers...

And friends like Rob coming to visit...

...and learning how to JUMP and HOP and sing along with her favorite songs.

And going on rocket trips to the moon...

And being the most beautiful two year-old in the world.

Next week is Halloween so we've been trying on some different costumes.

Zoe thought she might want to be a bird...

Or maybe Reggie the Alligator.

Or a blind Giraffe...

For a special night-time Storytime at the library Zoe and Mama got
dressed up as skeletons.

You'll have to wait for next time to see which costume Zoe picked for Halloween!

Happy October!
